What to Bring

Trout fishing in New Zealand requires a fishing licence. These are not expensive and Trout Trackers can easily arrange licences for you and any other members of your fishing party.

Trout Trackers can supply all the fly fishing gear you may require, however if you are bringing your own the following is recommended:

• A #5 or #6 rod with appropriate line is most suitable for our fishing conditions.
• Polarising sunglasses for spotting are a must with amber lenses the best.
• Clothing should be in earthen colours or camouflage as bright colours, which may be good for photos, are not so great for catching our cunning southern trout.
• Good footwear is essential with hiking boots or river fishing boots recommended.
• Windproof jacket (Anorak) and thermal underwear.
